My Madrid Setup: Travel Light, Stay Cybersafe

I’m spending the weekend in Madrid and taking the opportunity to get some work done. No need to carry my whole office: I travel light and cybersafe.

The Basics: 3 Cybersecurity Rules

When working on the go, security is the number one priority. Here is what I apply to stay stress-free:

  • Zero Public Wi-Fi: This is my golden rule. I never connect to hotel or café networks. I only use my Google Pixel as a hotspot. It’s much more secure.
  • Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA): To access my emails or my websites, I use OTP (One-Time Password) for all my services.
  • Automatic Locking: My Lenovo Yoga is encrypted, and I never leave my gear unattended! The phrase I hear too often is: “Can you watch my laptop for a second?”… No way.

2. The Gear: Just the Essentials

My “office” this weekend consists of two items that fit anywhere:

  • The Lenovo Yoga: Lightweight with a great screen.
  • The Google Pixel 9: My 5G hotspot. The battery life is amazing, which is perfect for a work session without having to hunt for a power outlet every hour.

Time for Madrid!

The beauty of such a light setup is that it packs away in 10 seconds. Now that the work is done and everything is secure, I’m closing the Yoga.

The weather is great, Madrid is calling, and it’s time for some tapas. That’s what we’re here for too, right?
